  • Held in conjunction with:
Smoky Mountain Spring Fling, April 29-30th 2006 in Waynesville, NC
The Challenge Class is on Saturday, April 29th, 2006, RING 5
  • Hosted by Heather Malone-Bogle, showholder, SMSF 2005
  • Two divisions available, Coldpainted and Custom Glazed
  • Evaluated byKristina Lucas Francis
  • Sponsored by the Realistic Equine Sculpture Society
  • All proceeds benefit RESS
  • What it is:
RESS-sponsored “Challenge Classes” provide feedback on (finish work, sculpture or both) on three-dimensional realistic equine sculptures. Pieces are individually evaluated by an experienced artist or horseman, then the evaluations and constructive comments are given back to the artist. Pieces are also scored and prizes awarded.
This is not a NAN qualifying event however. Pieces entered in the “RESS Challenge Class for Finish” will not be able to show in any other classes, and will be required to stay in the Challenge area the whole day (until approximately 5:00pm on Saturday April 29th, 2004 ).
  • Why we do it:
The Mission Statement of RESS is, "To encourage excellence in realistic equine sculpture and associated artistry, promote an interactive education oriented professional community and broaden artistic opportunities through exhibitions, events, education, demonstration and critique."
We consider Challenge classes to be educational events offering artists tangible feedback. Though called a “Challenge”, it is not a challenge between artists in the conventional model horse show sense. Rather, it is a challenge to learn more and share information.
