Entry Determined by Lottery

This event will be held in our private studio, so space is limited. To ensure plenty of “elbow room” and safety for our beloved chinas, we have to strictly limit the number of entrants. Instead of first-come, first-served, a lottery will be held for entrant spaces, so everyone has plenty of notice before the show is filled. The public will not be allowed, and as we are not a storefront, there is no attraction. Only persons wearing our entrant/staff/helper badges will be permitted on the property.

Choose one of two methods to participate in the entry lottery.

Email your name and contact information by October 6th, 2006. Lottery emails received after this date will be void. Mark or select your email "request read receipt" to be sure we confirm your entry. The show staff and LFS/Paul and Kristina Francis are not responsible for internet mail delivery failure or lost entries. Limit one entry per potential exhibitor. You may not enter twice as primary exhibitor and your helper/spouse, only once as primary exhibitor. If you are drawn, your one named adult helper/spouse gets a badge.

Snailmail lottery entries must be postmarked by September 29th, 2006. The show staff and LFS/Paul and Kristina Francis are not responsible for postal delays, returns, insufficient postage or postage-due entries, or lost entries. Limit one entry per potential exhibitor.

Clinky Classic 2 Entry Lottery
c/o Lucas Francis Studio
500 Cline Road
Dandridge, TN 37725

The drawing to determine entrants will be held October 7th, 2006. Entrants will be notified via email or snailmail, with copies of the entry forms and information on how to send payment for entry. Alternates will be drawn, in the case of cancellations or failure to reply to winner notification. If there are fewer lottery entries than spaces available, the remaining spaces will be advertised on the breakables Yahoo group, for open public entry.

Show Fees and Schedule:

  • Two-day entry is $50
  • One-day entry is $40
  • No fees will be accepted until the entry lottery is held on 10/7/06. Prompt payment of fees at time of winning entry notification is expected; if not paid by 10/20/06 a drawn alternate will be assigned your space.

Models Eligible:

This show is for models that have been fired in a kiln, with a fixed finish. This show is for glazed ware (and white/undecorated bisque in one challenge class) only. Ceramics finished in non-fired media (acrylics, oils, stains, etc.) are not eligible. Restored models are welcome, but not enhanced restorations (added shading, detailing). The focus of this show is on permanently finished ceramic media. All clays are welcome: earthenware, stoneware, porcelain, bone china, etc. No resin-based or “cold-cast” pieces.

The Show Hall:

Lucas Francis Studio
500 Cline Road
Dandridge, TN 37725

Located outside Knoxville, with a good selection of nearby hotels, B&B, fast food, freeway, and an airport, it is easy to locate. This is a 1.5-story air-conditioned/heated show hall with bathroom, kitchenette, lounge, offices, and a separate ceramics workshop. Coffee, bottled water, and use of fridge and microwave are provided. The judges share the use of a separate room to keep their show horses while they work. The floors are tile and cement, not carpeted, so many showers prefer to wear comfortable shoes and lay horses down on their tables with a margin left around the edge to prevent falls. We seldom allow hobby visitors into our studio. This is a bit like the “Wonka Factory tour”, which is why we felt a lottery method was the fairest way to accept entry. On your entry form, you can pay for the catered lunch options, or choose to bring your own and use our kitchenette, or drive to the fast food options at the end of our street.

For your convenience, and considering recent air travel restrictions, we will allow showers and the official vendor to ship their horses ahead to our show hall address. Folks who choose to do this are responsible for picking up their boxes, unpacking, repacking, and for return shipping. Check your tracking numbers before you leave for the show; show staff and LFS/Paul and Kristina Francis are not responsible for lost or damaged property.

Food, the Important Part:

For those who pay for the option, there will be lunch catered by Smokehouse BBQ on Saturday, the best Texas BBQ of all time. Seriously, you won't believe what you've been missing. On Sunday, we will have local legend Harold's Deli cater a variety of sub sandwiches. Snackers, prepare your taste buds for some of Lesli's famous pumpkin squares! We will provide bottled water (cold & hot), brewed coffee, and assorted soft drinks. Nearby fast food: Subway, KFC, Wendy’s, Hardee’s (Carl’s Jr.), Taco Bell. A Starbucks is located a few minutes down the highway.

Awards:

  • 6 sets of OF LP NWW breed medallions (sky blue and peach)
  • 6 sets of OF LP OWW breed medallions
  • 7 sets of OF Collectability and 1 set CM Glaze Workmanship (the purple and green) medallions
  • 6 sets of CM Glaze breed medallions
  • 15 sets of Gender Champions ( 5 genders of s-m-g-c-f x 3 halter divisions) medallions
  • 5 sets of Grand Champions, trophy horses and rosettes
  • 1 set of Overall or “Best In Show” trophy horses and bigger rosettes
  • Sponsors providing special awards for their Challenge Classes

Table space:

Each registered (non-proxy) shower will receive one full space measuring 3x6' or 2'x8'. The show hall is a little larger than average size, but we have limited entrants to accommodate large aisles between tables. Proxy entry will be available on a limited basis, see our Rules. Your "proxy shower" must have been drawn for entry in the lottery.

Hotel info:

We are currently reserving a hotel block, about 2 miles from the show. More to come soon!

Donations!

Donations are welcome, for auction or raffle, and can be mailed direct to the studio. Since this is a ceramic-loving audience, ceramic items or restoration certificates are going to get the best reception. The proceeds benefit Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center, of East TN. This government facility assists victims of domestic violence, organizing evidence with minimal stress to the child. Thank you to our donors so far (11/14/06):

If you win the entry lottery, and want to vend from your own table space, you are welcome to do so, provided it does not compromise the tables or pathways of others (no boxes piled out from your table).
